An obvious confession: I'm not great at blogging or social media..
So my apologies in advance for those trying to keep up to date with how infrequently we may post at times. But just know - good things are happening!
After our successful meeting with the Town of Clayton last month, we are set for a meeting on November 5th with Polk County to get final rezoning approval. If anyone reading this feels compelled to write down their support for the course, it's not too late. Please email wheelsupdg@gmail.com any words of support you'd be open to us sharing with the county.
Other things coming up:
-I picked up a non-working 52-bottle glass door wine fridge last week. Why? It's going to be our little free disc library! A place for those without discs to borrow one to play a round, or a place to leave found discs so they can make their way back to their owners. A likely video coming next week to our Instagram about painting with the kids.
-Then the county November 5th, we will update everyone on.
-Assuming approval, then these are other fun items to expect in the coming months:
Equipment ordering day (December) - we will share what type of baskets we are getting! And give a sneak peek at the signage.
Grass cutting day (April) - Once the weather warms in the spring we will show before and after when we do the first real clean out of the land.
Stake out (Late April) - with the land ready for use, we will go out with stakes to plot the course and play test the locations
Tree planting (April/May) - In the initial course design, there are about 5 landmark trees, a couple of dozen privacy bushes, and some periphery trees we will be planting. We will show a look at them going in!
Baskets in! (ETA May) - we'll share once the baskets are in, and we expect to follow that up with a tournament in June for the grand opening. Anyone with experience running a disc golf tournament and interested in helping, we'd love to hear from you!
PS. 3 new products on the site today. A rainbow version of the Death Putt shirt, a button for the Backstop, and a new hat design.
PPS. Stay tuned on Instagram since we are considering a logo switch, and we will show an early design on there today - feedback welcome!
Wheels up, friends!
